Lipid droplets (LDs), activity of mitochondria andadenosine triphosphate (ATP) content represent the constituents important for cytoplasmicmaturation of mammalian oocytes. This research provides detection of LDs, ATP content andrearrangement of mitochondria in matured porcine oocytes with different meiotic competence. Inporcine oocytes mitochondria surround LDs forming so-called metabolic units. Meiotic competenceof porcine oocytes is directly influenced by the size of follicle from which oocytes are derived.
