Step 6: <strong>The</strong> results <strong>of</strong> observation were used to inform the survey questions.<br />
<strong>Students</strong> were surveyed until at least 60 responses collected. All the<br />
participants <strong>of</strong> this study are selected randomly. <strong>Students</strong> were asked in<br />
the last question <strong>of</strong> the survey to identify if they are prepared to be<br />
involved in an in-depth interview. Following this a selection <strong>of</strong> ten students<br />
was interviewed in depth.<br />
Step 7: Interview. <strong>The</strong> information sheet (see Information Sheet in<br />
Appendix C) and the interview questions were shown to the participants<br />
before the interviews. All the interviewees had sufficient time to consider<br />
whether they would like to be interviewed or involved in this research. <strong>The</strong><br />
interviewees signed the consent form and received a copy <strong>of</strong> it (see Consent<br />
Form in Appendix D). It contains information about both this research and<br />
contact details <strong>of</strong> the researcher. <strong>The</strong>y could withdraw from the research at<br />
any time if they intend.<br />
<strong>The</strong> details <strong>of</strong> any participants in this research are confidential. <strong>The</strong><br />
participants are anonymous in this research. <strong>The</strong>re are no materials that<br />
could identify any particular participant. <strong>The</strong> interviews were all<br />
face-to-face and were recorded by the researcher. Further information<br />
and/or conversations during the interviews (such as the behaviour <strong>of</strong> the<br />
interviewee) could be gathered and used in this research. <strong>The</strong> interview<br />
lasted about 20-30 minutes.<br />
If there were fewer than eight interview respondents, more surveys and<br />
interview requests would be carried out.<br />
<strong>The</strong> researcher surveyed students who have used on-<strong>campus</strong> WLANs in<br />
UNITEC New Zealand. If the responses did not reach expected, the<br />
research would continue the survey stage in order to have enough<br />
