Resolution <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> Court No. 16/2012<br />
Degree <strong>of</strong> Master <strong>of</strong> Surgery (Urology)<br />
At <strong>Edinburgh</strong>, Second day <strong>of</strong> July, Two thousand and twelve.<br />
WHEREAS the <strong>University</strong> Court deems it expedient to institute a postgraduate degree<br />
<strong>of</strong> Master <strong>of</strong> Surgery (Urology):<br />
THEREFORE the <strong>University</strong> Court, on the recommendation <strong>of</strong> the Senatus Academicus<br />
and in exercise <strong>of</strong> the powers conferred upon it by Section 3 <strong>of</strong> the Universities (Scotland)<br />
Act 1966, with special reference to paragraph 2 <strong>of</strong> Part II <strong>of</strong> Schedule 2 to that Act, hereby<br />
resolves:<br />
1. The <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Edinburgh</strong> may confer the degree <strong>of</strong> Master <strong>of</strong> Surgery (Urology)<br />
(ChM (Urology)) and those engaged in postgraduate studies by coursework in the <strong>University</strong><br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>Edinburgh</strong> shall include candidates <strong>for</strong> the degree <strong>of</strong> Master <strong>of</strong> Surgery (Urology).<br />
2. The Senatus Academicus has the power to make Regulations under this Resolution<br />
governing the studies undertaken <strong>for</strong> the degree <strong>of</strong> Master <strong>of</strong> Surgery and in particular to<br />
register candidates <strong>for</strong> the degree and ensure their satisfactory supervision and to discontinue<br />
registration <strong>of</strong> unsatisfactory candidates.<br />
3. The degree <strong>of</strong> Master <strong>of</strong> Surgery (Urology) shall not be conferred honoris causa.<br />
4. All candidates <strong>for</strong> the degree <strong>of</strong> Master <strong>of</strong> Surgery (Urology) must be registered<br />
postgraduate students <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Edinburgh</strong>. The Regulations made by the Senatus<br />
governing registered postgraduate students apply to all candidates.<br />
5. A candidate who has satisfied the conditions prescribed by or under this Resolution<br />
shall be entitled to receive the degree <strong>of</strong> Master <strong>of</strong> Surgery (Urology).<br />
6. This Resolution shall come into <strong>for</strong>ce with effect from the 1 August Two thousand and<br />
twelve.<br />
