<strong>2015</strong> Behind the Wire Art Exhibition<br />

The <strong>2015</strong> Behind the Wire Art Exhibition displayed art works from all correctional facilities; DCC,<br />

ASCC, DWC, DDYDC and ASYDC. Items from the DCC and ASCC Industries Sector were also<br />

displayed.<br />

The Behind the Wire Art Exhibition was opened on 24 August <strong>2015</strong>, by the Honourable John<br />

Elferink, Minister for Correctional Services and Minister for Arts and Museums. The Exhibition<br />

was held at the Fannie Bay Gaol which is facilitated by the Department of Arts and Museums. The<br />

Exhibition has been held annually for the past 14 years and has grown from small beginnings to<br />

become an anticipated event in Darwin.<br />

There were $1,754 worth of items sold from the Industry Sector including wooden chopping boards,<br />

metal cut outs and number plates. Over $8,000 worth of artwork was sold to patrons from all over<br />

Australia. Prisoners received 48% of the sale price which is deposited into their prisoner accounts<br />

and 52% goes back into the Industries Sector to assist progressing prisoner artistic activities.<br />
