OUR ORGANISATION<br />

Correctional Programs and Services<br />

The Correctional Programs and Services (CP&S) division is comprised of multi-disciplinary teams<br />

that develop, manage and deliver a range of programs, services for people within, or at risk of<br />

entering, the NT correctional system. These include preventative, early intervention, alternative<br />

sentencing and custodial treatment and psycho-educational programs; cultural supports;<br />

reintegration services; and community engagement activities.<br />

Additionally, CP&S maintains strategic oversight of matters relating to correctional programs and<br />

services and relating to the implementation of recommendations made to the Department regarding<br />

the correctional system.<br />

The strategic focus of CP&S is to:<br />

• Enhance rehabilitative prospects for adult and youth offenders;<br />

• Provide alternatives to detention for young people;<br />

• Facilitate cultural supports and culturally informed programs and services for adults and young<br />

people;<br />

• Focus on early intervention programs and services for young people; and<br />

• Enhance reintegration opportunities for adults and young people.<br />

The CP&S strategic focus is achieved through the following CP&S initiatives:<br />

• Indigenous programs and services;<br />

• Adult and youth custodial treatment and psycho-educational offender programs;<br />

• Coordination of the Elders Visiting Program;<br />

• Grant funding and partnership with NT police for the youth diversion program;<br />

• Grant funding for the Register of Appropriate Support Persons (RASP);<br />

• Delivery of the Early Intervention Youth Boot Camp program;<br />

• Development of the Sentenced Youth Boot Camp program;<br />

• Development of the Youth Bail support program;<br />

• Implementation of the Youth Justice Framework <strong>2015</strong>-2020;<br />

• Secretariat support for the Youth Justice Advisory Committee; and<br />

• Community Engagement.<br />
