ARDENT HOT SPRING
Ideal for a cool night swim to rejuvenate
the mind and body after a long trek
up the mountain, this local hot spa is a
natural pool springing from the depths
of Mount Hibok-Hibok. The local
municipality has provided cottages,
restaurant and dormitory facilities that
cater to local and foreign tourists. It
has picnic huts, cookout facilities and
KATIBAWASAN FALLS
After an interesting yet creepy start to
your short getaway, cool it off at this 250-
feet majestic beauty that cascades to a
rock pool surrounded by ground orchids,
wild ferns, trees and boulders. Its icecold
waters provide an ideal summer
splash to locals and tourists alike.
DAY 3
MANTIGUE ISLAND
This island is the verses from Coldplay’s
‘Paradise’ because it is filled with an
evergreen forest fringed with a sandy
beach. The boat ride to Mantigue is
quite exciting, as one has to contend
with strong diverging currents due to
the open sea. One side of the island is
ideal for swimming as it is shallow and
has few corals while the opposite side
is a deep drop off ideal for snorkelling
and diving.
DAY 2
MOUNT HIBOK-HIBOK
The only active volcano in the island, this
1,250-metre slope is a challenge even
to the seasoned mountaineer. However,
the peak offers breathtaking views of
Cebu, Negros and Bohol islands. The
mountain also has a crater lake at the
peak with plenty of steam outlets.
