SORRISNIVA IGLOO HOTEL<br />

ALTA, NORWAY<br />

Surrounded by a quiet and relaxing atmosphere outside<br />

the city centre – it is the perfect place for calmness and<br />

serenity. This year’s ice hotel is opening on December<br />

19 and the theme is inspired from the Ice Age. We The<br />

Igloo Hotel is located at Sorrisniva, about 20km from<br />

Alta in idyllic surroundings on the banks of the Alta river<br />

and has approximately 30 rooms, suites, ice gallery and<br />

an ice chapel. The hotel is decorated with ice sculptures<br />

– beautiful artwork created by talented sculptors and the<br />

location of the hotel is perfect to look for the northern<br />

lights and to explore the surrounding nature.<br />

Guests should note that the ice rooms contain only beds<br />

while other facilities like toilets, changing rooms, showers<br />

and sauna are in the warm service building next door. In<br />

the service building you can relax during your stay as the<br />

living room, restaurant, reception as well as lockers are<br />

made available in this building.<br />

ALPENIGLU IGLOO VILLAGE<br />

Built entirely of ice and snow, the 2,000 square<br />

metre village near the beautiful lake of<br />

Filzalmsee consists of suites for overnight stays,<br />

an igloo shop, Icebar, igloo restaurant, an open<br />

air snow bar and a charming igloo church. The<br />

18 igloo suites are carved of massive blocks of<br />

ice and appointed with cosy sleeping bags<br />

and warm reindeer skins while the fascinating<br />

ice church allow weddings to be organised.<br />

Each year, the resort plays host to ICE LAND,<br />

a mesmerising ice sculpture exhibition.<br />

HÔTEL DE GLACE<br />

QUÉBEC, CANADA<br />

Located only four kilometres from the north end<br />

of Québec City, the hôtel and its furniture may<br />

be entirely made of ice and snow, but you will<br />

be getting a very comfortable bed. Blocks of<br />

ice make the base of the bed followed by a solid<br />

wood base and a comfortable mattress. When<br />

the time comes, a cosy sleeping bag, an isolating<br />

bed sheet and a pillow will be delivered to your<br />

room. Even the room temperature stays between<br />

-3°C and -5°C no matter what temperature it is<br />

outside, the sleeping bags are used for<br />

temperatures between -15°C and -30°C.<br />

Furthermore, with its huge snow vaults, crystalline<br />

ice sculptures and 44 rooms and suites, the Hôtel<br />

de Glace impresses with its dazzling decor.<br />
