Figure 12: TechnoRobot RiotBot with remote control
TechnoRobot specialises in the design and manufacture of robots intended for the security and defence
sectors. After two years of development, TechnoRobot has launched RiotBot (TechnoRobot – Rapidly
Deployable Remotely Operated Less-Lethal Support Robos), a robotic platform requested for years by
different international agencies involved in high-risk operations for its security and defence. To design the
RiotBot, a strong R&D team was formed within the enterprise by more than 20 technicians working closely
alongside various special operations tactical experts.
RiotBot was designed to intervene in high-risk missions to remove the threat to human team members. The
principle objective is to minimise injury within both the intervention group and the opposing force. To that
end, the RiotBot is equipped with a nonlethal weapon. It is also equipped with a laser site for greater weapon
acuracy and a powerful flashlight for nighttime operations. RiotBot is equipped with six-wheel-drive
capabilities, and can reach speeds exceeding 20km/h. A light-weight portable control unit allows the RiotBot
operator to view images captured by the robot's camera in real time from over a kilometer away.
Figure 13: iRobot 510 Packbot
510 PackBot (GROUND ROBOTS – 510 PACKBOT®) produced by iRobot is a tactical mobile robot that
performs multiple missions while keeping warfighters and first responders out of harms way. Through its
modularity, adaptability and expandability it can be used in various scenarios like bomb disposal, surveillance
/ reconnaissance and hazardous material detection. 510 PackBot easily climbs stairs, rolls over rubble and
navigates narrow passages with sure-footed efficiency, traveling at speeds of up to 9 km/h.
510 PackBot relays real-time video, audio and other sensor readings while the operator stays at a safe standoff
distance. The operator can view a 2-D or 3-D image of the robot on the control unit, allowing for precise
positioning. PackBot also features a game-style hand controller for faster training and easier operation in the
