7.5.2 Non Functional Requirements
7.5.2.1 Performance
Requirement No.: RRS25
Name: Latency and timing requirements for the input and output of the FPGA sub-system
Description: This also depends on the functional requirements of the overall FPGA sub-system
Reason / Comments:
Indicative priority Mandatory
Requirement No.: RRS26
Name: Continuous run time
Description: This depends on the functional requirements as well and also impacts on heat dissipation
and power requirements of the FPGA sub-system.
Reason / Comments:
Indicative priority Mandatory
Requirement No. RRS27
Name: Power consumption of the FPGA sub-system
Description: This depends on the selection of the board and the hardware components. This depends on
outcome of the requirements dealing with I/O, processing and device and component
selection such as RRS1, RRS2, RRS3 etc.
7.5.2.2 Safety and reliability
Requirement No.: RRS28
Name: Heat dissipation of FPGA and other device on board
Description: This depends on many of the previous factors such as functionality required from the FPGA
sub-system. An on chip fan or heatsink is typically required to dissipate the heat from the
system. Vents in the demonstrator enclosures etc. Inadequate ventilation can cause thermal
shutdown of the system. Furthermore, the user needs to be protected from exposure to
excessive heat.
Requirement No.: RRS29
Name: User safety.
Description: To prevent shock or injury to the user. To prevent any imposing mechanical movement by
the Mechatronic system (e.g. using a command master stop or reset). Isolation, physical
connections.
Reason / Comments:
Indicative priority Mandatory
Requirement No.: RRS30
Name: Reliability of the implemented hardware
Description: The implemented digital hardware and firmware must be verified and validated properly by
using functional simulation etc methods.
