IN FACT, MOST OF THE TIME
WE FORGET THE MOST
IMPORTANT INVENTORY IS
THE ONE WE NEED TO TAKE
OF OUR LIFE, AND THE PEOPLE
WE CONSIDER OUR FRIENDS
AND LOVED ONES.
A
re your friends supportive of you? Are they
a positive influence in your life? There’s a
saying “you are the five people you spend the most time
with”. Are you happy with that picture? Or, is it time for
a change? What about your significant other? Are you
still stuck in a relationship going nowhere? Is he / she
making promises only to break them? It might be time
to pull the plug on those toxic relationships that bring
you down and no longer make you happy.
Sometimes we become so used to being in an
unhealthy relationship we think toxic patterns are the
norm. Remind yourself you are worthy of a healthy
relationship with someone who appreciates you. Stop
making excuses for him / her thinking they’ll change.
People can only change for a short period of time.
They typically always go back to who they are. Start to
break free from this toxic pattern.
Some of Us Need to Break Free
in Stages and That’s Ok.
Change doesn’t happen overnight unless, of course,
the relationship is abusive; then cut him / her loose
NOW. There is NEVER any excuse for violence, or
emotional abuse. Start taking steps to distance
yourself from the relationship and regain your strength.
Prepare yourself emotionally and mentally that it will
be hard for a while, but in the end you open yourself
up to something better. Only when you’re free from
negativity can positivity enter your life.
Take Your Mind Off.
Surround yourself with people who love and care
about you. Chances are they were telling you for a
long time to break free of this toxic relationship. They’ll
remind you of what a healthy relationship looks like
and to love yourself again.
Good Days and Bad Days.
You’ll have good and bad days, and your loved ones,
or your true friends can help get you through those
down days.
Although the relationship was toxic, you’re so
accustomed to being with this person you might even
miss certain things about them. Do not confuse your
loneliness with being by yourself. It’ll feel new and scary
to be on your own. That is a normal feeling. In time
you’ll thank yourself for having loved yourself enough
to break free. New people will enter your life. Whatever
you do, do not jump into another relationship right
away. Practice self-love and healing.
Start Blooming Again
Once you break free of your toxic relationship you’ll start
seeing other areas of your life start blooming as well.
It’ll affect your friendships in a positive way and you’ll
start being more productive at work. You’ll start to feel
a weight lifted off your chest. You’ll feel free and realize
how beautiful life can be without the constant drama
and negativity.
Try to do something positive everyday that’ll make
you feel good about yourself and to get your selfesteem
back. This is the time to be selfish and take care
of you. The energy you put out into the world comes
back. Make it positive. Your future self will thank you. As
the saying goes, “When you stop chasing losers, it gives
prince charming a chance to catch up to you”. l
