Handmade Tea Bags
These handmade tea bags are destined to impress, especially if you have a stellar
taste in tea. Gather a nice collection of loose tea leaves (find a store where these are
available for purchase - sometimes you can buy them in bulk, where you measure
out what you want and pay by weight) as well as coffee filters, string, and small slips
of paper you will use as tags. To build a tea bag, cut about an inch off opposite sides
of the coffee filter, so you have a sort of rectangle shape with two flat sides and two
rounded sides. Drop a spoonful of tea leaves in the center, and then fold
the filter over long-ways. Take the open end and fold the edges together.
Do this a couple of times, rolling inward and folding as you go. Once that’s secure,
fold it in half the other way, so the length is cut in half. If the tea bag is
a bit long, which it probably will be, snip off a few centimeters from the ends.
Then fold the ends into a triangle, lay end of a six inch piece of string
across it, and staple everything together. Your tea bag is done,
so now it’s time to staple the “tag” onto the other end of
the string and write in the flavor of tea.
