6 Spam Filters<br />
Next up, we're going <strong>to</strong> filter out SPAM web traffic. Yes- such a thing<br />
exists. Yes – you NEED <strong>to</strong> remove this traffic. As an aside – it <strong>to</strong>ok our<br />
entire analytics team nearly one week <strong>to</strong> make sure that all of our clients<br />
have all of <strong>the</strong>se filters and that <strong>the</strong>y're put <strong>to</strong>ge<strong>the</strong>r well. If you don't<br />
follow <strong>the</strong>se instructions, you put your data and subsequent analysis at<br />
risk. You don't want <strong>to</strong> make decisions based on garbage data, do you?<br />
Hostname<br />
Up first is a “hostname” filter. What this means is that your analytics will<br />
only show data for hits <strong>to</strong> your website. This is <strong>the</strong> first line of defense<br />
against SPAM traffic.<br />
1. Go back in<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> “Filters” section<br />
2. Select “Create new Filter”
