Exposure on Community and Environment Issues
In alignment with the theme, “Leaders Within”, this year, we also
expose our student leaders to environmental and community
issues. This year, for the first time, some Student Councillors come
together to organise Earth Hour. During this week, students had
the opportunity to pen down what and how they can contribute
to save the Earth and the environment. Apart from that, we also
have groups of student leaders who went to Pulau Semakau to
better understand the issue of waste management Singapore
is facing now and in the future. It was also an opportunity for
the student leaders to fell in love with nature as they walk
through the mud and get upclose with the varied sea organisms
during the inter-tidal walk at Pulau Semakau. Another group of
student leaders also attended a Teens Conference where they
get to discuss community issues such as caring for migrant
workers, caring for people with disabilities and protecting the
environment.
With these platforms, the Student Leadership Committee hope
that student leaders will use these opportunity to hone their
leadership skills and will also continue to think what can they do
to as an active contributor to their society.
