Choir
The Mayflower Secondary School Choir is a group of vibrant,
young people who share a common love in singing. The
aims are to provide opportunities to engage the community
through singing, to grow in the pursuit of choral excellence,
and to deepen the bonds shared through music-making.
Under the skilful baton of the choir conductor, Mrs Tay
Sze Chen since 2014, the choir has grown from strength to
strength. The Choir was awarded its second Certificate of
Distinction this year in the SYF Arts Presentation.
In November 2016, the Choir performed at the Esplanade
Concert Hall in the Limelight Series. The Choir embarked
on an overseas choral trip in Hong Kong, having a public
performance and school choral exchanges with two
schools.
In January this year, the Choir was also invited to perform
at the Guild in Concert @ National Gallery Singapore.
In February, the choir watched a performance by the
Philippines Madrigal Singers at the Esplanade.
The annual Inauguration Concert was held in April to
welcome the Secondary 1 new members and to provide
a platform for them to perform,
A rare opportunity came by our choir once again in June
2017. The Singapore Teachers Academy for the Arts
(STAR) invited our choir to do a professional recording
for them.
Apart from developing the vocal quality of our
members, various activities were organised to provide
opportunities for our members to develop friendship. In
March, a Choir Camp was organised and in July, Bubble
Soccer was organised to provide an opportunity for our
members to be engaged in sport activities.
With the combined effort of the student leaders,
conductors and the teachers, the choir will continue to
grow as a family that sings together
