Chinese Dance
The Mayflower Chinese Dance Club is a dance troupe that consists of 40 passionate dancers. The club is part of the
school’s Aesthetics niche. Under the guidance of the dance instructor Ms Connie Ban, members of the Chinese Dance
are continually challenged to rise to great heights of strength, grace and artistic achievement.
Our dancers performed in many school events and functions, ranging from CCA Exhibition, Chinese New Year
celebrations, Speech & Prize Giving Day, MF Lunch Time Concerts, and MF Open House. These performances have
provided opportunities for our dancers to hone their skills while adding to the vibrant arts scene in the school.
The Chinese Dance Club performed in the ASEAN Schools Games 2017 Opening Ceremony in July, in which the dancers
performed the item, “The Day I Fell in Love” together with Peicai Secondary and Jurong West Primary. In the same
month, they also performed an item, themed “Red, Blue and White” (Racial Harmony) for Singapore Heart Foundation
Charity Cup Golf Tournament 2017. Through their passion and commitment, our dancers bravely go through their paces
to bring happiness and joy to the audience as they dance to the rhythm of life for each school and public performances.
In February, the club engaged in a Kin-ball SEP programme which the dancers not only outplay, outwit and out to have
fun but they also learnt to be cooperative and work as a team. In September, the dancers watched the musical play
“West Side Story” which is Inspired by Shakespeare’s tumultuous love story Romeo and Juliet in Grand Theatre at
Marina Bay Sands.
Under the rigorous training practices, multiple
opportunities to showcase their talents and other
activities to widen their horizon of arts, every dancer
from Chinese Dance Club develop their skills, leadership
and organising abilities. We hope our dancers become a
person with Zest for Life, a Curious Mind, and a Generous
Spirit.
