จังหวัดนี้ยังเป็นที่ตั้งของอุทยานแห่งชาติเขาสกซึ่งเป็น<br />
ผืนป่าธรรมชาติที่ยังอุดมสมบูรณ์มากที่สุดแห่งหนึ่ง<br />
ของประเทศไทย อุทยานแห่งชาติเขาสกที่มีฉายาว่า<br />
‘ขุนเขาแห่งป่าฝน’ แห่งนี้เป็นป่าดิบชื้นผืนใหญ่ที่มี<br />
พื้นที่ทั้งสิ้นประมาณ 461,712.5 ไร่ และมีอาณาเขต<br />
ติดกับเขตอนุรักษ์อื่นๆ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นเขตรักษาพันธุ์<br />
สัตว์ป่าคลองแสง เขตรักษาพันธุ์สัตว์ป่าคลองยัน<br />
เขตรักษาพันธุ์สัตว์ป่าคลองนาคา อุทยานแห่งชาติ<br />
ศรีพังงา และอุทยานแห่งชาติแก่งกรุง<br />
แม้ภาพแรกที่คนมักจะนึกถึงเมื่อพูดถึงเขาสกคือ<br />
ภาพของ ‘กุ้ยหลินเมืองไทย’ หรือแพริมน้ำาในอ่าง<br />
เก็บน้ำาเขื่อนรัชชประภาที่มีฉากหลังเป็นเทือกเขา<br />
หินปูนที่วางตัวอยู่ลดหลั่นกัน แต่ด้วยความที่มีพื้นที่<br />
อนุรักษ์กว้างขวาง อุทยานแห่งชาติเขาสกจึงมีความ<br />
หลากหลายทางชีวภาพสูง และกลายเป็นสถานที่ท่อง<br />
เที่ยวทางธรรมชาติชั้นดี นอกจากพืชพรรณหายาก<br />
และพืชเฉพาะถิ่นอย่างบัวผุดซึ่งเป็นดอกไม้ที่ใหญ่<br />
ที่สุดในประเทศไทย ปาล์มเจ้าเมืองถลางหรือปาล์ม<br />
พระราหูแล้ว เขาสกยังเป็นบ้านของสัตว์ป่านานาชนิด<br />
รวมถึงสัตว์ป่าสงวน 4 ชนิด คือ เก้งหม้อ เลียงผา<br />
สมเสร็จ และแมวลายหินอ่อนด้วย<br />
เขาสกมีที่พักให้เลือกหลากหลาย นอกจากที่พัก<br />
แบบเรือนแพของทางอุทยานแห่งชาติ กรมป่าไม้ รวม<br />
ถึงของรีสอร์ตเอกชนอื่นๆ แล้ว ที่นี่ยังมีที่พักประเภท<br />
บ้านต้นไม้หลายแห่งให้เลือกสำาหรับผู้ที่อยากพักผ่อน<br />
Surat Thani does not only have beaches,<br />
to the west side of the province is Khao<br />
Sok National Park. Rich in natural jungles,<br />
the park is referred to as “Rainforest<br />
Mountains”. The tropical forest is large,<br />
taking up 461,712.5 rai (182,546 acres) of land,<br />
and borders many conservation areas. This<br />
includes Khlong Saeng Wildlife Sanctuary,<br />
Khlong Yan Wildlife Sanctuary, Khlong<br />
Nakha Wildlife Sanctuary, Sri Phang Nga<br />
National Park and Kaeng Krung National Park.<br />
People call Khao Sok the “Guilin of<br />
Thailand” due to the limestone monoliths<br />
that rise from its lakes. The picture you will<br />
often see on postcards are of these natural<br />
wonders, along with floating huts that<br />
border the famous reservoir. But Khao Sok<br />
should also be praised for its biodiversity.<br />
In addition to rare native species, you can<br />
also find the Rafflesia, which is Thailand’s<br />
largest flower and unique palm trees.<br />
Khao Sok is also famous for having a large<br />
population of four very endangered animals,<br />
including the fea’s muntjac (barking deer),<br />
tapir, leopard and clouded leopard.<br />
