After spending a large amount of time with the children and asking them about their<br />

memories, I found it easy to agree with Sarah Sunker. It appeared that they were<br />

discouraged from thinking about the past, negative thoughts and experiences in<br />

particular. While the children received a large offering of therapy services, there was less<br />

of a holistic focus on the entire picture of childhood compared to specific interventions.<br />

The children also exhibited a limited vocabulary concerning emotions. While many of the<br />

children described themselves as happy or content, many of them exhibited signs of low<br />

self-esteem, high anxiety, and emotional detachment.<br />
