Installing Moodle Step 6c: Specify the database settings In this step, you specify the database that Moodle uses. The Host Server is the address of the computer that serves the database. On most servers, the hostname will be localhost. Think of it this way: Moodle and its database are on the same server, so they are "local" to one another. So from Moodle's point of view, the database server is a local host. If the database existed on another server, you would enter the IP address or web address of that server.
