Film and television production<br />
Description<br />
Aims to accelerate the economic participation of black <strong>in</strong>dustrialists <strong>in</strong><br />
<strong>South</strong> <strong>Africa</strong>. A cash grant, amount<strong>in</strong>g to 20% to 30% of qualify<strong>in</strong>g costs<br />
but limited to ZAR50-million, is offered to 51% black-owned, -managed<br />
and -controlled bus<strong>in</strong>esses to <strong>in</strong>vest <strong>in</strong> greenfield and brownfield<br />
manufactur<strong>in</strong>g projects.<br />
<strong>The</strong> BPS <strong>in</strong>centive aims to attract <strong>in</strong>vestment and generate employment<br />
<strong>in</strong> <strong>South</strong> <strong>Africa</strong> by offshor<strong>in</strong>g bus<strong>in</strong>ess services, target<strong>in</strong>g bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />
process<strong>in</strong>g and outsourc<strong>in</strong>g BPO projects that create at least 50 new jobs<br />
<strong>in</strong> <strong>South</strong> <strong>Africa</strong>. <strong>The</strong> <strong>in</strong>centive is granted per offshore job created and is<br />
granted over a period of five years.<br />
A package of <strong>in</strong>centives is available to promote film production and postproduction<br />
activities <strong>in</strong> <strong>South</strong> <strong>Africa</strong>:<br />
• Foreign Film and Television Production Incentive: 20% of qualify<strong>in</strong>g<br />
<strong>South</strong> <strong>Africa</strong>n production expenditure (QSAPE);<br />
• <strong>South</strong> <strong>Africa</strong>n Film and Television Production and Co-Production<br />
Incentive: 35% of the first ZAR6-million of QSAPE and 25% of the<br />
excess; and<br />
• <strong>South</strong> <strong>Africa</strong>n Emerg<strong>in</strong>g Black Filmmakers Incentive: 50% of the first<br />
ZAR6-million of QSAPE and 25% of the excess.<br />
