On July 1st, the CHRF held their 22nd annual march since the
1997 handover. Though largely peaceful, protesters further
exhibited their determination to affect change by breaking
into the legislative council building itself, bypassing reinforced
security measures and capturing the main legislative chamber.
During the three hour occupation, the space was emblazoned
with movement slogans while the city emblem was defaced.
One of the entrants made a point of unmasking himself to
deter their indictment as rioters.
