There’s no sense of I had nothing
to lose. So I didn’t push beyond the
limits to define my character,” he
recounts.
Gongkan had spent nearly
4 years in New York, which was
genuinely filled with artistic
vibrancy. But given that the Thai
artist was an immigrant there,
he felt sad and homesick. That
frustration became an inspiration
behind his Teleport collection. Black
holes are compared to teleport,
which can bring people from one
place to another. Black holes also
communicate about pressure,
loneliness and sadness and the
wish to travel to the world of
freedom and hopes.
“I was under immense pressure.
I felt like there was no way out. So,
I drew a picture of a black hole.
Then, it occurred to me that such
black hole should not appear just
on paper. It should be shown to
people’s real life. So, I drew it in
street-art style and presented my
drawings to community arts centres.
That’s how I could create Teleport
pieces on New York walls. As an
increasing number of people saw
my works, black hole becomes my
signature. Teleport initially focused
on moving from one place to
another. But over time, my Teleport
has also talked about moving from
one world to another for example
to the world that is ideal for LGBT,
where love has no boundary or the
world where hatred is turned into
love,” the artist explains.
Because of his New Yorkbased
street arts, Gongkan got
an opportunity to stage his first
Teleport exhibition in New York
before staging the second at
Warehouse 30 in Bangkok. Both
events enjoyed success, paving way
for him to achieve international
recognition. His fame, for example,
has spread to Taiwan (Taipei and
Taichung) and China (Beijing and
Shanghai). His latest exhibition titled
“YESTERTODAYMORROW”, which
was held at River City Bangkok, is
also a success.
“YESTERTODAYMORROW
merged Yesterday with Today
and Tomorrow based on Teleport
concept. It addressed the different
dimensions of time in the world.
After birth, humans were fooled by
the past, what they are doing, and
what they hope for their future.
Basically, everyone has his past, his
present and his future in himself.
“This collection focused on the
need to get over the concept of time.
It nudged people to look back into
the past and check if they made
mistakes, review if they live in the
present, and look ahead into the
future,” Gongkan says.
It can be said that Gongkan’s
latest collection still addresses the
concept of teleport, his signature.
And as always, his work of arts is
intriguingly interesting and subtle.

“ 纽 约 是 充 满 活 力 及 乐 趣 之 城 , 使 我 有 更 多 的 时 间 发 现 自 己 , 更 多 的 去
推 动 自 己 , 与 在 泰 国 不 同 , 我 总 在 安 全 区 内 生 活 , 没 有 激 动 自 己 创 造 自 己 独
特 性 的 作 品 。”
虽 生 活 在 充 满 艺 术 力 量 之 城 , 但 这 也 给 他 带 来 漂 泊 异 乡 之 压 力 , 寂 寞 和
思 念 家 乡 , 推 动 他 创 造 《Teleport》 的 作 品 , 通 过 黑 洞 穿 越 到 充 满 自 由 和 希
望 的 世 界 。
“ 生 活 的 压 力 , 找 不 到 出 口 , 使 得 我 创 作 黑 洞 的 绘 画 , 便 将 此 作 品 提 交
到 当 地 艺 术 中 心 在 纽 约 进 行 墙 绘 创 作 。 最 初 的 《Teleport》 表 达 异 地 穿 越 ,
后 来 被 扩 展 意 义 成 境 界 穿 越 如 异 性 恋 境 界 或 一 个 将 恨 变 成 爱 的 世 界 。”
从 其 街 头 艺 术 作 品 , 让 贡 甘 有 机 会 在 纽 约 画 廊 首 办 个 展 , 之 后 于 曼 谷
Warehouse30 举 办 展 览 , 其 艺 术 展 览 非 常 成 功 并 享 有 国 际 声 誉 。 至 今 , 贡
甘 最 近 于 曼 谷 河 城 购 物 中 心 举 办 他 的 最 新 《YESTERTODAYMORROW》 作
品 展 览 。
“《YESTERTODAYMORROW》 展 示 了 过 去 、 现 在 和 未 来 , 我 们 活 在 一
个 具 有 许 多 时 间 维 度 的 世 界 , 过 去 的 回 忆 , 现 在 的 所 做 , 未 来 的 希 望 都 是 人
生 所 拥 有 的 基 本 , 其 作 品 表 达 了 时 空 穿 越 , 让 我 们 能 够 回 看 过 去 的 自 己 , 回
顾 自 己 是 否 有 过 错 , 我 们 是 否 真 正 生 活 在 当 下 或 者 我 们 的 未 来 会 怎 么 样 。”
总 之 , 像 他 以 前 的 作 品 一 样 , 其 最 新 作 品 仍 然 反 应 了 他 的 独 特 风 格 的 穿
越 主 题 。
