5.1 TDP for <strong>Oracle</strong><br />

This chapter describes how to install and setup Tivoli D<strong>at</strong>a Protection for<br />

<strong>Oracle</strong> on a UNIX pl<strong>at</strong>form like AIX or Sun Solaris.<br />

The environment we used for the examples described in this book is shown in<br />

Figure 11.<br />

The following sections cover the install<strong>at</strong>ion details of version 2.1.10 of the<br />

Tivoli D<strong>at</strong>a Protection for <strong>Oracle</strong> including how to install, setup environment<br />

variables and edit the dsm.opt file.<br />

5.1.1 Install TDP for <strong>Oracle</strong><br />

To install TDP for <strong>Oracle</strong>, use smit on the AIX system or pkgadd on the Sun<br />

Solaris system.<br />

For further inform<strong>at</strong>ions on requirements, check the Tivoli D<strong>at</strong>a Protection for<br />

<strong>Oracle</strong> for UNIX Install<strong>at</strong>ion and User’s Guide, SH26-4112-01.<br />

TDP for <strong>Oracle</strong> requires the TSM API version 3.7.2 or l<strong>at</strong>er. On the Solaris<br />

system, this package must be installed prior to TDP for <strong>Oracle</strong>. The TSM API<br />

code is shipped together with TDP for <strong>Oracle</strong>.<br />
