The company remains focused on being a customercentric,
innovative and sustainable business. In early 2011,
BAM Construct UK commissioned customer perception
research that was undertaken by independent
consultants Camargue. The results were favourable. 99
percent of the respondents said they would work with
BAM again and recommend the company to others. And
45 percent said BAM was better than its competitors.
However, customers also indicated that the company
could improve its performance by becoming more
innovative and by improving aftercare.
Increasingly, BAM Construct UK looks at sustainability
issues in the round as part of conducting its business
ethically and responsibly. The company made further
progress in 2011 on reducing carbon emissions, reducing
the amount of construction waste generated and sent to
landfill and more efficient use of energy in its offices and
on sites. This improvement in performance was validated
by achieving a gold standard on the Business in the
Community Corporate Responsibility Index 2011. The
company also set a series of ambitious targets to be
achieved by 2015, including reducing CO emissions by
2
25 percent against a 2008 baseline.
The projects carried out by > BAM Contractors – which
operates in the Irish construction and property sector
through subsidiaries BAM Building and BAM Property –
are described in more detail in the section on the civil
engineering sector on page 87.
2011 was another successful year for > BAM Deutschland.
With operating revenue of approximately €525 million,
BAM Deutschland is one of the leading companies in the
German non-residential construction market. The
company has approximately 700 employees, spread over
branches in Stuttgart, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Dresden,
Frankfurt am Main and Munich.
BAM Deutschland offers a total service for non-residential
construction across the whole of Germany. With its two

subsidiaries, HBM Stadien- und Sportstättenbau and
BAM Immobilien-Dienstleistungen, it can be on hand for
its clients at every stage of the construction process. Its
experience and expertise in the area of stadium projects
make HBM Stadien- und Sportstättenbau a much
sought-after partner in the international arena as well.
BAM Deutschland is also involved in various PPP projects,
such as the Ministry for Research and Education project
in Berlin and a hospital project for Main-Taunus regional
municipality with two clinic buildings in Bad Homburg
and Usingen.
The range of knowledge deployed covers the full
spectrum of large project construction, from housing
(e.g. IsarBelle in Munich), to education (e.g. the
Corvinianum Northeim Secondary School), exhibition
halls (e.g. Messe Düsseldorf), shopping centres (e.g.
Boulevard Berlin), offices (e.g. BGM 24 Berlin) and prisons
(e.g. JVA Brandenburg).
After the balance sheet date, BAM-Immobiliendienstleistungen
GmbH – the BAM Deutschland subsidiary
which specialises in facility management – acquired
75 percent of the share capital in MR Facility Services
GmbH of Hallbergmoos, near Munich. BAM Deutschland
is strengthening its facility management capacity so that
it can continue responding to the increased demand for
these services, including in relation to its own growing
portfolio of PPP projects.
> BAM Techniek is a national operator in
multidisciplinary mechanical and electrical contracting
with more than 1,500 employees. Working from
fourteen different offices, BAM Techniek develops,
designs, builds, manages and operates mechanical and
electrical equipment in both the non-residential and
residential construction markets as well as for industry.
The process of integrating BAM Techniek’s subsidiary,
Digacom, into BAM Techniek-ICT continued during the
year under review. Digacom specialises in the application
