EQE- 900-007<br />
7D <strong>Vehicle</strong> means a vehicle registered with the Registry as a school pupil transport<br />
vehicle pursuant to M.G.L. Chapter 90 Section 7D. These are usually passenger-type<br />
light duty vehicles used to transport school pupils.<br />
7D Inspection means a separate, distinct safety inspection for 7D vehicles as described<br />
under CMR 21.00<br />
ALARS means the <strong>Massachusetts</strong> Registry of Motor <strong>Vehicle</strong>s’ Automated Licensing and<br />
Registration System.<br />
ASE means the National Institute for automotive Service excellence.<br />
Bar Code means a series of specially coded bars from which vehicle or inspection<br />
identification information can be read electronically.<br />
Challenge Inspection means a process available to motorists to challenge the validity of<br />
the results of their vehicle’s inspection.<br />
Commercial Motor <strong>Vehicle</strong> Inspection means an inspection of a commercial motor<br />
vehicle as defined in 540CMR 4.00, et seq.<br />
Covert <strong>Vehicle</strong> Audit means a performance audit of a Station or inspector performed by<br />
submitting for inspection a vehicle set to fail the emissions test.<br />
Cutpoint means the maximum allowable opacity level for a diesel vehicle’s exhaust that<br />
passes the emissions inspection. Levels above the cutpoint constitute failure of the<br />
emissions inspection, and levels at or below the cutpoint mean the vehicle passes the<br />
emissions inspection.<br />
DLC means the Data Link Connector which is the standardized electrical connector<br />
required for OBD equipped vehicles to provide access to the vehicle’s OBD system.<br />
