NOTE: The <strong>Vehicle</strong> Inspection Database is the main computer at the RMV, where all test<br />
data records are stored. Inspection test results are transmitted to the VID from the internet<br />
connection.<br />
Turn On The PC<br />
CAUTION!<br />
Before turning on the Personal Computer (PC), make sure it is plugged into a<br />
grounded power receptacle and that the PC modem is connected to an internet connection.<br />
Turn on the PC by pressing the power ON/OFF button located on the front lower right<br />
corner of the PC.<br />
If the green ON light<br />
does not illuminate, check<br />
the PC connection to the<br />
power supply.<br />
Power On Self-Test Display<br />
The system should self-test each time it powers up and will display the hardware<br />
check list shown to the right.<br />
This is the Hardware Test Screen<br />
displayed after the computer powers up. If<br />
any of the first three components (scan<br />
tool, bar code reader, or floppy drive) fail,<br />
you will not be able to continue.<br />
