Equipment:
All inspection station licensees must possess the tools, equipment and facilities
necessary for the normal repair and adjustment of motor vehicles or components. Inspection
station licensees are also required to have the inspection Workstation equipment and the
Registry of Motor Vehicles Inspection Manual.
Procedure:
Before driving the vehicle in for an inspection, the inspector must walk around the
vehicle inspecting the condition of the suspension system, and any attached items (i.e. snow
plows) that will impede or interfere with the proper aiming of headlamps. The inspector will
also check for any unsafe conditions such as explosives, fluid leaks, space saver temporary
spare tire mounted on any axle, etc. If any of these conditions exist, the vehicle inspection
cannot continue, and an informal turnaway document will be provided to the customer.
Only the inspector will then drive the vehicle into the bay, while testing the brakes.
NOTE: During the inspection, customers will not be allowed in the inspection bay.
Items to Inspect:
Certificate of Registration (or photocopy), Vehicle Identification Number (VIN),
license plate(s), and decal.
