The village AVIIS incorporated in 1833, and has since been presided
over by the folloAving mayors: John Smith, Richard Burt, John Smith,
S. F. Taylor, T. R. Hopkins, E. B. Atherton, J. J. Penfield, L. Galpin,
A. Page, George Dimon, V. Fries, Danvin Fay, W. E. Lockwood,
Dr. E. L. Perry, J. W. Stoakes, Dr. E. L. Perry, J. AV. Stoakes.
The Odd FCIIOAAS were organized here largely through the activites
of Air. Mann. Milan Lodge No. 105 Avas installed in the spring of 1848
by Thomas C. AICEAVCII, aftenA'ard a resident of Sandusky. The lodge
flourished for many years, but meetings were finally discontinued. The
cause of the failure is said to have been the enlistment of so many of
its members in the army during the Civil Avar.
The present society is styled Alarks Lodge, No. 717, being named
in honor of Reverend Alarks, so long an Episcopalian minister at Huron,
and an Odd FCIIOAV of high standing. This lodge AVIIS installed in the
fall of 1882, by Grand Alaster J. Burkett, of Findlay, Ohio. The charter
members Avere F. IT. Weaver, S. G. Saunders, P. J. Slocum, J. Eggleston,
R. Croft, II. L. Wilson and D. J. AVilcoxson.

Cranston Post, No. 73, Grand Army of the Republic, AVIIS organized
in 1881, Avith the following: officers and charter members: IT. N. Shipman.

A Woman's Relief Corps AVIIS organized in Hie spring of 1888, Avith

The cornerstone of the town ball AVIIS laid July 4, 1876.
The Fanny Gordon Home, Alilan.—On one of the prettiest residence
streets in Alilan is located "The Fanny Gordon Home," which AA'as
bequeathed to the corporate body known as "The Church Home of
Cleveland." an Episcopalian home for old ladies, by the late Airs.
Frances AIcFall Gordon, AVIIO died in August, 190.7.
The Gordon Home was dedicated on AVednesday, July 29, 1908,
under the oversight of Air. Lee and a large party of the trustees and
friends of the home. The Alilan Cottage has ahvays been maintained
as a summer home, and here a number of the old ladies from the
