other streets are macadamized and oiled. There are 80 miles of stone
and concrete sideAvalks.
Provision has already been made for the elimination of three of
the grade crossings over the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Raihvay
(New York Central) tracks in the southern portion of the city. Engineers
for the city and raihvay company are now at Avork on the plans
and the Avork will go forward as speedily as possible. This improvement
will open up for residence purposes a large section of the city now
thinly settled.
