Holdings: collections from both sides in the Civil War, going from military units (the so-called<br />
People’s Army and national Army, Field Dressing Stations); Government institutions until the<br />
end of the war (Presidency of the republic, Central Administration, Basque Government,<br />
Generality of Catalonia, as well as the national Defense ministry), to national militia (Falange<br />
and requetés), and the Blue Division and other military units. the “other records” section<br />
holds documentation concerning Franco’s military office. the Archive also holds private<br />
collections from different participants in the war.<br />
Special collections: the Arturo roque meruvia (aka Kémer) poster collection from 1936 to<br />
1939, José Demaría Campúa’s photo collection, a collection of items related to the Blue Division,<br />
a collection of national Army units coats of arms during the Civil War, as well as a collection<br />
of military units’ administrative stamps<br />
Access: open to anyone. the 2 nd Section of the General Staff documentation is classified<br />

Fondos: además de diversa documentación sobre reclutamiento de soldados, expedientes<br />
de tropa y prisiones militares a lo largo de los siglos XViii, XiX y XX, conserva fondos sobre<br />
los prisioneros extranjeros en el campo de concentración de miranda de Ebro, batallones<br />
disciplinarios de soldados tras la Guerra Civil y conmutaciones de penas. asimismo, guarda<br />
expedientes sobre búsqueda de personas muertas o desaparecidas durante la contienda,<br />
antecedentes de los combatientes de ambos bandos y solicitudes de medallas y recompensas<br />
de todo tipo, así como la repatriación de brigadistas internacionales. también existen<br />
listados de prisioneros de guerra internados en hospitales, campos de concentración y<br />
batallones de trabajadores.<br />

Holdings: apart from various documents concerning recruitment of soldiers, troop records<br />
and military prisons throughout the 18 th , 19 th and 20 th centuries, the Archive has collections on<br />
foreign prisoners in the miranda de Ebro concentration camp, disciplinary battalions of<br />
soldiers after the Civil War, and the commutation of penalties. it also has records about the<br />
search for dead or missing people during the war, combatants’ records from both sides of<br />
the war, requests for medals and rewards of all kind, and the repatriation of international<br />
volunteers. there are also lists of prisoners of war in hospitals, concentration camps and<br />
work battalions.<br />
Access: some records are not accesible
