Precarga y rigidez. Precarga
Preload and Rigidity. Preload
Ballscrew systems are normally preloaded
in order to eliminate backlash, to increase the
overall rigidity of the ball and nut system and to
improve the positioning accuracy.
Preloading should be done with care. Too
high a preload on the nuts would result in an
increase in the system driving torque, which in
turn would mean a shorter operational life and
a higher temperature.
Precarga de tuercas simples
Preloaded single nuts
In order to increase the rigidity of a single
nut system and to reduce backlash, it is possible
to use two preloading methods.
One consists in inserting balls which are
slightly larger than the ball track groove diameter,
so there will be 4 points of contact between
the balls and the ball tracks(see figure 39). This
method is used for small preloads only. To
improve the ball screw performance, spacer
balls are used.
The other method provides an offset of the
lead at the central area of the nut, so that the
increase in lead generates a force on the balls
which is equivalent to the preload (see figure 40).
