Con copa densa y copiosa. Fuste irregular concorteza externa pardo grisácea, que se descama en pequeñas piezas irregulares que descubren unasuperficie parda e interna de color crema rosado pálido, el grosor total de la corteza es de 2 a 3 mm, conolor a cacahuate. Tiene ramas dispersas, que de jóvenes son morenas, lisas, de sección redonda conalgunas lenticelas pálidas, glabras o con escasos pelos diminutos (Figura 93). Yemas de 2 a 3 mm delargo, desnudas, con pelos diminutos y estípulas ausentes.Hojas dispuestas en espiral, simples, láminasde 6.5 x 3 a 12 x 4.6 cm, elípticas u obovadas, con el borde aserrado, ápice cortamente acuminado, baseaguda o cuneada, verde obscuro en la haz, más pálida en el envés, con tres nervios prominentes en lasuperficie superior a la inserción de la lámina, ligeramente pulvinados en la base y en el ápice (Figura94). Flores dispuestas en paniculas terminales piramidales de 8 a 12 cm de largo, finamentepubescentes, con diminutos pelos pálidos, pedicelos de 4. 5 mm de largo, flores actinomorfásicas de 8mm de diámetro; sépalos de 5 mm de largo, de color blanco cremoso, estrechamente elípticos aoblongos, con pubescencia densa y larga de color blanco cremoso; estambres numerosos. Florece enabril. Los frutos son bayas globosas con 8 mm de diámetro con el estilo permanente, con escasapubescencia y pequeños pelos, de color crema rosado y contienen una sola semilla redonda de 5 a 6mm de diámetro, carnosa y verde, con olor a cacahuate (Figura 95) y fructifican en septiembre(Pennington y Sarukhán, 1998; Rzedowski, 1996).Desde la zona de las huastecas de San Luis Potosí, Puebla y Veracruz, hasta el sur de Veracruz, en laregión de los Tuxtlas, en Oaxaca en los Chimalapas y en la selva Lacandona, Chiapas (Pennington ySarukhán, 1998).Usos Se desconoce los usos de esta especie (Pennington y Sarukhán, 1998)Germinación No disponible.
