The standard deviation of the season equals zero sincethe win percentages of all teams are 0,5. Hence the NAMSI will equal zero.If the worst case scenario is present the seasonal standard deviation equalsthe maximal standard deviation and the NAMSI equals 1. So the NAMSIranges between 0 and 1. When comparing two seasons or two countries ahigher NAMSI indicates a higher seasonal imbalance.Besides seasonal imbalance we also need a dynamic imbalancemeasure. The standard deviation is a static measure since it only looks atone season independently of other seasons. In Europe there can be a closefight for the championship’s title in one season but over seasons it are oftenthe same teams that compete for the first places. We discussed the exampleof the Belgian teams RSC Anderlecht and Club Brugge in the previouschapter.
