komponenter i servicecentral går att få utan halogen. Hissar är enligt vår erfarenhet svårt<br />

Marknadskoll? Det är få tillverkare som klarar att exempelvis göra halogenfria elrör <strong>och</strong><br />
priset är extremt mycket högre. Inom LIP-kansliet gjordes ett försök till<br />
teknikupphandling som misslyckades <strong>och</strong> fick avbrytas. Generellt sätt bör enbart rimliga<br />
krav ställas på relevant tillgänglig teknik.<br />

funktionalitet og egenskaber i øvrigt. Afløbsrør i PVC har fx langt større<br />
holdbarhed og kemikaliebestandighed end rør i et alternativt plastmateriale. Krav<br />
til byggeproduktets funktionalitet spiller derfor en væsentlig rolle for valg af<br />
materiale. Vi kan ikke tilslutte os, at der gives point for ikke at anvende halogenfrie<br />
plastprodukter som fx PVC generelt.<br />

P7 is unacceptable for the industry. To our knowledge no comparative life cycle analysis<br />
shows that halogenated plastics have a higher impact than the alternatives in the<br />
applications mentioned.<br />
Halogenated plastics like PVC have never been classified as a hazardous substances.<br />
Several studies by reputable independent institutes have demonstrated that PVC is a<br />
material like any other and that there is no reason to treat PVC differently from any other<br />
material.<br />
A EU study on the "Life Cycle Assessment of PVC and of principal competing materials"<br />
commissioned by the European Commission and issued in June 2004 by PE Europe also<br />
concludes there are no grounds for discriminating PVC and that PVC should not be<br />
treated differently from other materials. The study confirms that the environmental<br />
impact of PVC is not different from other materials employed. This study is the final<br />
step in the long process followed by the European Commission to clarify the<br />
environmental performance of PVC and independently confirms that PVC is as good a<br />
material as any other, with both strong and weak points, depending on the application and<br />
on its use, and that there is no reason to treat PVC differently from any other material.<br />

Discriminating halogenated plastics is not sound science based. By lack of scientific<br />
evidence we consequently ask to remove this chapter on halogen free plastic<br />
