7ABSTRACTThis paper studies the animation cinema, 3D technology and its relations withdigital art, and, the importance of the Pixar studios to this genre of cinema. Itaims to ascertain how the movie “Toy Story”, by John Lasseter, hasrevolutionized the animation movies. Through a bibliographic and documentalresearch, as well as the DVD's and internet declarations from artists, there wasan analisys of the film, the impact it had at the time of its launch and how itselements were worldwide reinterpreted, with the methodology of DepthHermeneutics by John Thompson (2002). The authors who gave the basis forthis research about animation cinema and 3D technologies were BarbosaJunior (2005), Andrew Chong (2008) and Crafton (1993), about Digital Art,Lieser (2010) and about Pixar, Capodagli e Jackson (2010). It was proved that“Toy Story” is a landmark of the world‟s cinema for presenting a new visual with3D depth, through computer graphics and a new language of digital movies,contemporaneous and original, that influenced and modified the entire genreover the next years.Keywords: Animation Cinema.
