Abstract
Thrombosis is one of the leading causes of death and one of
the most discussed current issues in medicine and science.
The growing knowledge of pathophysiological changes
allows the development of new therapies for the prevention
of thromboembolic events. However, for an adequate
diagnosis and treatment of these diseases, whether
acquired or systemic, anamnesis and laboratory tests are
essential. It takes vast knowledge about a specific cell, the
megakaryocytes, and its acting as protagonist in important
syndromes prove this. In addition to its burden in the process
of thrombosis, plaque also has potential as a therapeutic
target for the development of new thromboembolic agents.
Therefore, the present article aims to understand clearly and
objectively the physiology of coagulation and hemostasis,
which are relevant for the understanding of functional
mechanisms in thrombotic pathologies.
Palavras-chaves: plaqueta, hemostasia, trombo,
