Abstract East Turkistan is a region in which basic human rights of people have been violated for years. Pressure policy of Chinese authority against Uyghur has been increasing day by day and international community ignores the issue. Local people are forced to migrate within China or leave the region and join Diaspora in different parts of the world. Strict birth control policies, ban on Islamic fasting and attending mosques, imposition of Chinese as the obligatory language of education, restrictions on education, employment and health services, forced labour, exiles, detention, unjust imprisonment and similar practices have become a part of the daily life of the East Turkistan people. Although East Turkistan was brought to the agenda of international community after the events of the 5th July in 2009, there has been no steps taken and the situation has got worse and worse until the first anniversary days of the 5th July. Numerous people were arrested in July in the days of events and thousands of people unjustly detained and there has been no news from them since last year. Contrary to the one-year passed period, the international community does not show sufficient response to the accepted China’s human rights violations and these encourage the Chinese administration and it has continued to violate many of basic rights of Uyghur’s. MAZLUMDER noticed anxiety and worried at the days of the events taking place in July. Our review application to the Chinese government was not accepted by Chinese authorities. The right violations have started with the occupation in 1884 where Turkish origin communities densely inhabited and the region’s name the “East Turkistan” replaced with the “Şincan” (Xinjiang) the Chinese meaning “new conquered territory” prohibiting its former name. Throughout its long history, important massacres have taken place in the region and thousands of people have been killed in these massacres. China’s administrative and judicial system must be sought first as a source of violations experienced today. Indeed, when we look at China’s judicial system, we can easily see that the basic problem lies in the philosophy of law and the judiciary. Accordingly, the present legal system in China has the right to interfere under the name of the collective interests of all individuals. Although the concept of traditional Chinese concept of the individual is not neglected especially in more modern times, generally prevailing the sense of community is based on families in the society under the influence of communism and individuals in this approach are of secondary importance. The applied methods of Chinese Administration are the massive arrests and torture under the detention to assimilate the Uyghur existence in East Turkistan. The majority of arrested Muslims are sentenced to penal servitude in labor camps. There is mostly no news from the arrested people. The families cannot be aware of them as where they are kept. 7
Exposure to torture, mass arrests and detention, sudden disappearance, a very long time in custody are the common events in East Turkistan. Although torture is banned officially in China by law, these rules have not been applied. Acts of torture and unfair pressure have become tools of state policy. Torture is used extensively in Chinese prisons and work camps. Various international organizations draw attention to the systematic torture in China and have warned the Chinese government with the published reports. MAZLUMDER East Turkistan Human Rights Report contains subjects like; forced migration, arbitrary detention, prisons, torture, right of assembly and demonstration, right to life, historical process, jurisdiction system and constitution, organ trade of prisoners, press and freedom of expression, forced migration and East Turkistan refugees, ethnic and religious discrimination, violation of the right to travel, woman rights, abortion and population issues and 5th July events. MAZLUMDER draws attention of international community to violations in East Turkistan on the anniversary of the 5th July and reminds China, Turkey and international community their responsibilities. 8
