The Institute of Textile Chemistry and Chemical<br />
Fibers (ITCF) performs basic research as<br />
well as application oriented research along<br />
the entire textile production chain.<br />
The institute focuses principally on producing<br />
high performance fibres for composites and<br />
fibre based functional materials, conducting<br />
research on carbon fibres, oxide and nonoxide<br />
ceramic fibres as well as high-performance<br />
polymer fibres.<br />
ITCF’s core competencies range from synthesising<br />
fibre polymers to fibre production,<br />
using the principal spinning techniques,<br />
through to finishing to create specific properties.<br />
The extensive range of research is divided<br />
into three areas:<br />
1) chemistry, physics and technology of fibre<br />
production<br />
2) textile finishing and chemistry of technical<br />
textiles<br />
3) intelligent materials and high-performance<br />
fibres<br />
