SW (Schwäbische Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH)
produces internationally renowned manufacturing
systems for metal working. The growing
company now has over 280 employees
based in Waldmössingen. SW plans and develops
machine tools and special accessories.
SW came into being from Heckler & Koch
GmbH, which was taken over and restructured
by British Aerospace in 1991. The British
owners increasingly focused on defence and
aerospace technology, and so outsourced
mechanical and plant engineering from 1995.
The management at the time took this opportunity
to found SW, with shareholders Walter
A. Lamp and Dieter Kroll at the helm.
SW not only produces machines, it is also a
major supplier of best possible workpiecespecific
solutions for sophisticated series production.
This applies to four and five-axis as
well as for multi-spindle 5-axis simultaneous
machining. Single, twin and four-spindle horizontal
machining centres as well as multispindle
drill head machines are used in automotive
and mechanical engineering, as well
as in aerospace, hydraulics and pneumatics.
