AFBW – Allianz Faserbasierte Werkstoffe
Baden-Württemberg – is an association of
companies, research institutes, business
organisations and universities in Baden-
Württemberg. AFBW functions as a crosssectional
network which positions fibres and
their possible applications at the centre of its
activities and brings all the players along the
whole value chain together. It also provides a
platform for dialogue and knowledge transfer
between business, science and politics. The
association functions as a driver for innovation,
demonstrates new applications and acts
as a stimulus for new material and product
innovation.
Aerospace is a principal focus of AFBW. Fibrebased
materials are essential in this field.
These energy-efficient, multifunctional and
sustainable materials are ideal for an increasing
number of applications. As they serve
many functions, they can easily replace many
of today’s conventional materials in many
application areas.
