Astos Solutions GmbH was set up in 2006<br />
from the former IFR – Institute of Flight<br />
Mechanics and Control in Stuttgart. ASTOS<br />
software has been in development since<br />
1989. The ESA uses ASTOS as the reference<br />
software for the likes of trajectory optimisation,<br />
mission analysis, guidance and atmospheric,<br />
orbital and interplanetary flightpath<br />
control. Asides from ASTOS, GESOP, POINT<br />
and VESTA software, NLP-solver WORHP and<br />
SOCS software are distributed by Boeing.<br />
The scope of the applications includes launching<br />
systems, manned space travel, exploration,<br />
earth observation, telecommunications,<br />
robotics and space situational awareness.<br />
Astos Solutions provides trajectory optimisation,<br />
design optimisation, security analysis,<br />
guidance, magnetic torquers, orbit control<br />
systems, algorithms for optical navigation,<br />
visualisation, camera simulation, FPGAs, UAVs<br />
and databases such as the ESA’s Planetary<br />
Database, a part of their asteroid data centre.<br />
