General<br />
The Dow Jones EURO STOXX 50® Index is a capitalisation-weighted index sponsored by STOXX Limited, a<br />
partnership between Deutsche <strong>Börse</strong> AG, Dow Jones <strong>and</strong> Company <strong>and</strong> SWX Swiss Exchange. The Dow Jones<br />
EURO STOXX 50® Index is composed of 50 European blue-chip stocks from those countries participating in<br />
the European Monetary Union. Each Component’s weight is capped at 10% of the index’s total free-float market<br />
capitalisation <strong>and</strong> the free-float weights are reviewed quarterly. The index composition however is reviewed<br />
anually in September. The objective of the Dow Jones EURO STOXX 50® Index is to provide a definitive<br />
st<strong>and</strong>ard for measuring stock market performance on an Eurozone basis <strong>and</strong> to provide a liquid base for<br />
derivative products.<br />
Calculation of the Dow Jones EURO STOXX 50® Index<br />
The Dow Jones EURO STOXX 50® Index is calculated by STOXX Limited with the Laspeyres formula, which<br />
measures price changes against a fixed base quantity weight. Each index has a unique index divisor, which is<br />
adjusted to maintain the continuity of the index’s values across changes due to corporate action.<br />
The input data sources for the index calculation include trading platforms, regulatory agencies, companies in the<br />
investable stock universe <strong>and</strong> related service providers.<br />
The methodology used to construct <strong>and</strong> maintain the Dow Jones EURO STOXX 50® Index aims to produce an<br />
investable index in which all constituent stocks are readily accessible <strong>and</strong> well traded. The Dow Jones EURO<br />
STOXX 50® Index is computed only on the basis of the traded prices during the official trading hours on the<br />
various exchanges where the 50 stocks are listed. The official closing value for the Dow Jones EURO STOXX<br />
50® Index is calculated using the closing level of each stock that did trade <strong>and</strong> adjusted closing prices of the<br />
previous trading day for these stocks that did not trade on the current day.<br />
