found regular employment earn more than 3 000
euros per month – just a year after finishing their
studies.
So it is also not surprising that more than twothirds
of those surveyed are either satisfied
or very satisfied with their professional situation.
By their own assessment, much of the credit goes
to the university: More than half (54 percent) of
the nearly 500 respondents stated that there was
a high or very high correlation between their
studies and their current professional situation.
The professional competencies they need correspond
largely to what they learned in their studies.
78 percent would choose the same degree programme
again, 70 percent at the FH Aachen.
"These figures confirm the work we have done
so far," said FH Aachen Rector Prof. Dr. Marcus
Baumann, “but they are also a challenge for
the future: We can and must become still better,
in order to maintain our long-term standing in
the university landscape.” For Vice Rector for
Academic Affairs Prof. Helmut Jakobs, the
deciding factor lies in promotion of the quality
of the teaching. He points to the high quality
standards of the university’s didactics which the
evaluation of the academic studies and lessons
have shown. For him, it is most important that
all involved parties feel themselves to be involved:
“It is up to each individual at the university.”
Graduiertentagung
„Das ist ein besonderer Moment für eine
FH.“ Mit diesen Worten leitete Rektor
Prof. Dr. Marcus Baumann die zweite
Graduiertentagung der FH Aachen ein, die
im November im Gebäude Eupener Straße
stattfand. Zum zweiten Mal nach 2008
veranstaltete die FH Aachen eine solche
Tagung, bei der junge Wissenschaftler die
Möglichkeit haben, die Ergebnisse ihrer
Forschung zu präsentieren und mit Kollegen
zu diskutieren. 26 der 30 Dokto-
randen der FH waren bei der Tagung
dabei. „Das Niveau Ihrer Arbeit ist hervorragend“,
sagte Prof. Baumann zu den
jungen Wissenschaftlern. Er dankte der
damaligen Prorektorin für Forschung,
Entwicklung und Technologietransfer,
Prof. Dr. Doris Samm, und Prof. Dr. Michael
J. Schöning, die die Graduiertentagung
im Jahr 2008 ins Leben gerufen haben.
Sein Dank galt natürlich auch Prof.
Samms Nachfolgerin, Prof. Dr. Christiane
Das FH-Studium vermittelt wertvolle Einblicke in die Praxis
Vaeßen, die gemeinsam mit den Doktoranden
für die Organisation der Veranstaltung
verantwortlich war. Zum Abschluss wurden
die Preisträger der Poster- und Vortragspräsentation
gekürt und geehrt:

Phu Tinh Phan; Thema: Limit and shakedown
analysis for bounded kinematic
hardening bodies
Silvia Kowollik; Thema: Relevance of
the respiration quotient in mammalian
cell culture development
Die Jury war besetzt mit Prof. Dr. Doris
Samm, Prof. Dr. Heinz Berndt, Mitglied des
Hochschulrats, und Prof. Helmut Jakobs,
Prorektor für Forschung und Lehre.
