Inhalt Along the lines of the seminal Stern Review and the IPCC's fourth assessment report, we<br />
provide a systematic overview of the relevant issues in climate change economics and<br />
policy. This includes, inter alia, social cost-benefit analysis and its ethical implications,<br />
impacts of climate change and how they are modelled, macroeconomic modeling<br />
approaches to assess the costs of climate stabilization, policy instruments and carbon<br />
markets, game-theoretic view of climate change as a public good and collective action<br />
problem, the international politics of climate change. In the exercise class we recapitulate<br />
some of the concepts introduced in the lecture, and work out a number of examinationrelevant<br />
problems.<br />
Bemerkung Note that due to Prof Edenhofer's commitments as co-chair of the Intergovernmental<br />
Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the following lectures have to be cancelled: 13 May,<br />
24 June, 15 July. In compensation, there will be additional make-up lectures: Friday 20<br />
May, 16-18, room H1012; Wednesday 25 May, 17-19, room H0104; Tuesday 14 June,<br />
16-18, room H1012.<br />
Nachweis 3 out of 4 possible homework problem sets from the exercise class have to be worked<br />
out and handed in.<br />

Voraussetzung Knowledge of micro- and macroeconomics, familiarity with mathematical analysis<br />
(derivates, integration, concept of differential equation). No need to sign up for this<br />
course, just come to the first lecture on Friday 15 April.<br />
