Ein junges Paar will sein Kind zu Hause zur Welt bringen. So hautnah,
so detailreich und authentisch hat man im Theater noch nie eine Geburt
miterlebt: Nervosität, Angst, Schmerz, Erleichterung – und schließlich ein
Wendepunkt. Dann der zweite Teil, ein Familientreffen, eine Mutter, die alt
wird, und zwei Töchter mit sehr unterschiedlichen Männern.
Während der Zusammenkunft wird das Kind zum Katalysator von Diskussionen
um Konflikte in der polnischen Gesellschaft zwischen religiösnationalistischer
Haltung und nonkonformistischer Lebensform, zwischen
neoliberalen Ansprüchen und extremer finanzieller Einschränkung.
Kornél Mundruczó und Kata Wéber kehren nach ihrem großen künstlerischen
Erfolg Evolution (2019) mit einem packenden Drama, das sie für das
TR Warszawa mit sieben herausragenden Schauspieler*innen entwickelt
haben, zurück. Die Inszenierung wurde 2019 als beste polnische Produktion
der letzten Spielzeit mit dem Grand Prix des Festivals Boska Komedia
ausgezeichnet.
A young couple wishes to have their baby at home. No birth in the theatre
has ever been so intimate, detailed and authentic: the nervousness, the
fear, the pain, the relief – and then, in the end, a turning point.
In the second part of the play we witness a family gathering with a mother
growing older and two daughters with very different husbands.
As the meeting continues, the child becomes the catalyst for discussions
about conflicts in Polish society between religious/nationalist political views
and a non-conformist way of life, between neoliberal ambitions and severe
financial hardship.
Following their great artistic success in 2019 with Evolution, Kornél
Mundruczó and Kata Wéber return to the Ruhrtriennale with an absorbing
family drama that they developed for TR Warszawa in collaboration with
seven remarkable actors. This production was recently selected as the best
Polish production of the season 2019 with the Grand Prix of the Festival
Boska Komedia.
