BaER-Lab: Business and Economic Research Laboratory<br />
Experimental economic research examines<br />
behavioral patterns in economic<br />
decision-making. To establish this area<br />
of research at the University of Pader -<br />
born, in April 2009 the Faculty of Busi -<br />
ness Administration and Economics<br />
founded its own Business and Eco -<br />
nomic Research Laboratory (known as<br />
BaER-Lab) at Prof. Dr. René Fahr’s chair<br />
of Corporate Governance. Equipped<br />
with 29 state-of-the-art computing<br />
workstations, BaER-Lab is one of the<br />
largest experimental economic labs in<br />
Germany, exploring economic theories,<br />
models and problems in a controlled<br />
lab environment. The resulting data is<br />
anonymized and subjected to statistical<br />
analysis before applying the outcome<br />
to the research issue in question.<br />
Current projects include an experimen-<br />

Contracts are the foundation of longterm<br />
business and working relationships.<br />
The Department of Management<br />
runs various projects to discover how<br />
business partners structure their longterm<br />
contracts in the shadow of the<br />
law, and to identify the likelihood of<br />
success of various types of contract.<br />

Particular attention is given to longterm,<br />
complex and incomplete contracts<br />
where mutual trust and implicit<br />
factors play a role. The contexts in<br />
question are employment contracts,<br />
long-term supply agreements, and professional<br />
team sports. The theories that<br />
play a role in this field overlap with<br />
