Provide a stable, reliable, functionally rich, extensible,<br />
interoperable base of business automation and<br />
infrastructure.<br />
Improve information access and communication from and<br />
to the judicial functions.<br />
Investigate and invest in technology solutions that improve<br />
judicial efficiency and effectiveness in handling growing<br />
caseloads.<br />
This strategic initiative will create, extend, and support an infrastructure that provides<br />
business value to statewide activities, involving the network, centralized help desk<br />
support, field support, equipment, and distributed system management. The benefits or<br />
business values for each area will allow:<br />
NETWORK<br />
Improved rural court productivity by providing the same level of technology<br />
afforded the large metropolitan courts. Improved customer service by providing<br />
higher quality of data and case management and greater public access to<br />
information.<br />
Improved, more secure access to the Internet for rural courts with improved<br />
throughput.<br />
Improved centralized access to information, such as criminal history, orders of<br />
protection, domestic violence, etc., for law enforcement.<br />
Improved electronic integration with the legal community and other justice-related<br />
departments and agencies.<br />
Improved responsiveness and productivity of court staff.<br />
Reduced risks in and complexity of systems development by reducing the<br />
number of systems and protocols/standards needing support.<br />
Reduced reliance on local vendors.<br />
Improved openness and interoperability of judicial systems with outside<br />
agencies.<br />
