Indochinese Silvered langur status: Occurrence confirmed, last evidence in <strong>2002</strong> (G. Polet, pers.comm.)<br />

One reliable sighting of one group was reported on 15 June 2000 (J. Barr). Another group of 8<br />

animals was seen on 19 April 2001 (D. Hobcroft). Another group of more than 10 animals including<br />

2 babies was observed on 9 June <strong>2002</strong> (G. Polet, pers. comm.).<br />

Sightings of the species without details are also noted by Pham Nhat et al. (2001)<br />

Nui Chua Nature Reserve (NINH THUAN)<br />

Indochinese Silvered langur status: Provisional occurrence, last report in 2000 (specimen)(Ha Thang<br />

Long, 2001)<br />

During a SIERES survey of the locality in April 2000, one animal was found in the house of a wildlife<br />

trader near to the headquarters of the nature reserve (Vu Ngoc Long, 2001). However, this is the only<br />

information from this area. The species was also not reported during a FZS survey in August 2001.<br />

It is unlikely that the species occurs in the nature reserve.<br />

Bien Lac-Nui Ong Nature Reserve (BINH THUAN)<br />

Indochinese Silvered langur status: Provisional occurrence, last report in 1998 (specimen) (Ngo Van<br />

Tri, 1999b)<br />

FFI conducted a short field survey in September 1999 to assess the status of elephants in the nature<br />

reserve. The team saw one Indochinese Silvered langur trophy shot from a group of 7 to 11 animals<br />

by a policeman in April 1998. However, the occurrence could not be confirmed. (Ngo Van Tri, 1999b)<br />

Dinh Quan District (DONG NAI)<br />

Indochinese Silvered langur status: Occurrence confirmed, last evidence in 1999 (Ngo Van Tri & Day, 1999)<br />

From June to August 1999, FFI conducted a survey to examine the biological diversity of mammals<br />

in the area. In July, one troop of at least 9 individuals (estimated at 14) was seen moving quietly in<br />

the canopy near the Thac Mai Waterfall (11°06’05”N / 107°25’47”E) (Ngo Van Tri & Day, 1999).<br />

Tay Ninh Province<br />

One infant was reported to have been collected in Nui Ba Den by A. Morice (1875) (museum unknown).<br />
