Pu Luong Nature Reserve (THANH HOA)<br />

Grey langur status: Provisional occurrence, last report in 1999 (Baker, 1999b)<br />

Two adult males (BMNH 1933.4.1.7 and 1933.4.1.8) were collected in January-February 1930 by J.<br />

Delacour and W. P. Lowe in Hoi Xuan Commune (Napier, 1985). One juvenile female (IEBR 679/<br />

530(12)) and one female skin (IEBR 683/534(16)) were collected in March 1964 by Ha Van Thau in<br />

the same locality (Fooden, 1996).<br />

During a FZS survey conducted from February to June 1999, with a special emphasis on the Delacour’s<br />

langur, information provided by local informants in different places (Lung Cao, Co Lung, Thanh Son,<br />

Hoi Xuan, Thanh Xuan and Phu Le Communes) reported the occurrence of Grey langur in Pu Luong<br />

Nature Reserve (Baker, 1999b).<br />

Nui Tuong limestone area, Ba Thuoc District (THANH HOA)<br />

Special use forest: None<br />

Grey langur status: Provisional occurrence, last report in 1999 (Baker, 1999b)<br />

A FZS survey conducted from February to June 1999 reported the occurrence of T. crepusculus,<br />

locally named “zan”, in Luong Noi Commune, based on interviews (Baker, 1999b).<br />

Local informants reported the species as extremely rare during the survey conducted by FFI in the<br />

area in October 1999 (Ngo Van Tri, 1999a). A hunter from Am Village claimed to have seen a troop of<br />

seven animals on the top of a big tree in Cam Valley in 1997.<br />

Cam Quy Commune, Cam Thuy District (THANH HOA)<br />

Thach Tuong Commune, Thach Thanh District (THANH HOA)<br />

Grey langurs, locally named “zan” are reported, based on interviews during a FZS survey conducted from<br />

February to June 1999 (Baker, 1999b). The forest extends to the westernmost tip of Cuc Phuong National Park.<br />

Lang Chanh District (THANH HOA)<br />

Special use forest: None<br />

Grey langur status: Unknown, last report in 1964 (museum specimen)<br />

One adult female (IEBR 634/486(33A)) and one juvenile female (IEBR 635/487(34A)) were collected in<br />

March 1964 in the Tan Phuc locality (probably by Lo Van Let). One adult male (IEBR 625) was collected<br />

in March 1964 by Le Van Soat and reported from Lang Chanh. One adult skull, possibly female (IEBR<br />

646), was collected from the same locality in March 1964 (unknown collector) (Fooden, 1996).
