family. The Moot Court Board selects<br />

from among the students participating<br />

in the Myerowitz Competition<br />

the school's three-member<br />

National Moot Court Team. The<br />

National Team then represents the<br />

school the following year in the<br />

national competition sponsored by<br />

the Association <strong>of</strong> the Bar <strong>of</strong> the<br />

City <strong>of</strong> New York.<br />

Upon recommendation <strong>of</strong> the<br />

faculty advisor to the Moot Court<br />

Board, students receive one credit<br />

per semester for each semester <strong>of</strong><br />

participation in the Moot Court<br />

program after the first round. Students<br />

chosen to serve on the National<br />

Team may receive for this<br />

activity one additional credit during<br />

each semester <strong>of</strong> their third<br />

year. Moot Court credit is earned<br />

on a pass/fail basis.<br />

In addition to the school's National<br />

Team, other teams represent<br />

the school in nationwide competitions,<br />

which have included: The<br />

Jerome Prince Invitational Evidence<br />

Moot Court Competition,<br />

The Kaufman Securities Moot<br />

Court Competition, The Benjamin<br />

N. Cardozo Entertainment and<br />

Communications <strong>Law</strong> Moot Court<br />

Competition, and The Jessup International<br />

Moot Court Competition.<br />

The Moot Court Board selects<br />

these teams on the basis <strong>of</strong><br />

individual performance in the Myerowitz<br />

Competition. With the approval<br />

<strong>of</strong> a faculty member, students<br />

may receive credit for their<br />

participation as one-credit independent<br />

written work or as part <strong>of</strong><br />

their work in a seminar or course.<br />

International <strong>Law</strong> Society<br />

The International <strong>Law</strong> Society is<br />

the focal point for international activities<br />

in the law school. Activities<br />

in the past have included:<br />

coordinating and staging three regional<br />

conferences <strong>of</strong> the American<br />

Society <strong>of</strong> International <strong>Law</strong><br />

on the legal and economic aspects<br />

<strong>of</strong> United States-Republic <strong>of</strong> China<br />

trade, United States-Caribbean<br />

Basin trade, and Multi-system Nations<br />

and International <strong>Law</strong> (cosponsored<br />

by the Georgetown <strong>University</strong><br />

Center for Strategic and International<br />

Studies); assisting the<br />

American Bar Association to hold<br />

a <strong>Law</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>ession Workshop on<br />

Chinese Connection and Normalization;<br />

assisting the American<br />

Association for Chinese Studies to<br />

hold its 24th annual meeting;<br />

hosting the mid-Atlantic Regional<br />

Jessup International Moot Court<br />

Competition for the American Society<br />

<strong>of</strong> International <strong>Law</strong> in 1982;<br />

establishing the "Occasional Papers/Reprints<br />

Series in Contemporary<br />

Asian Studies" under the guidance<br />

<strong>of</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Hungdah Chiu<br />

and sponsoring a speakers series in<br />

international law at the law school.<br />

Projects vary from year to year according<br />

to the needs <strong>of</strong> the international<br />

legal community and the<br />

interest <strong>of</strong> the students.<br />

The International <strong>Law</strong> Society<br />

sponsors law school participation<br />

in the Jessup International Moot<br />

Court Competition, which is held<br />

each spring at the annual meeting<br />
