Department of Defense intelligence production — The integration, evaluation, analysis,<br />

and interpretation of information from single or multiple sources into finished<br />

intelligence for known or anticipated military and related national security consumer<br />

requirements. (JP 2-0)<br />

Department of Defense support to counterdrug operations — Support provided by the<br />

Department of Defense to law enforcement agencies to detect, monitor, and counter the<br />

production, trafficking, and use of illegal drugs. See also counterdrug operations.<br />

Department of the Air Force — The executive part of the Department of the Air Force at<br />

the seat of government and all field headquarters, forces, Reserve Components,<br />

installations, activities, and functions under the control or supervision of the Secretary<br />

Department of the Army — The executive part of the Department of the Army at the seat<br />

of government and all field headquarters, forces, Reserve Components, installations,<br />

Department of the Navy — The executive part of the Department of the Navy at the seat of<br />

government; the headquarters, US Marine Corps; the entire operating forces of the<br />

United States Navy and of the US Marine Corps, including the Reserve Components of<br />

such forces; all field activities, headquarters, forces, bases, installations, activities, and<br />

functions under the control or supervision of the Secretary of the Navy; and the US<br />

Coast Guard when operating as a part of the Navy pursuant to law. Also called DON.<br />

departure airfield — An airfield on which troops and/or materiel are enplaned for flight.<br />

departure point — 1. A navigational check point used by aircraft as a marker for setting<br />

course. (JP 3-17) 2. In amphibious operations, an air control point at the seaward end<br />

of the helicopter approach lane system from which helicopter waves are dispatched<br />

dependents/immediate family — An employee’s spouse; children who are unmarried and<br />

under age 21 years or who, regardless of age, are physically or mentally incapable of<br />

self-support; dependent parents, including step and legally adoptive parents of the<br />

employee’s spouse; and dependent brothers and sisters, including step and legally<br />

adoptive brothers and sisters of the employee’s spouse who are unmarried and under 21<br />

years of age or who, regardless of age, are physically or mentally incapable of selfsupport.<br />
